Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where casino gambling is illegal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel building that contains numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
